Rigid Urethane Foam

We carry rigid urethane foams from Dow Chemical and General Plastics. These rigid urethanes are used in a wide variety of products including low cost tooling, sculpting/modeling and for insulation. The foams can be hot-wire profiled and fast wire cut into shapes and profiles.

DOW Chemical

Trymer polyisocyanurate pipe insulation is a closed-cell, high-performance insulation for pipe, vessel, equipment and duct applications. Dow offers a complete line of Trymer pipe insulation products in a selection of densities and compressive strengths. Trymer pipe insulation features one of the lowest ambient k-factors among all pipe insulations: 0.19 BTU in/hr ft2 °F at 75°F mean temperature (0.027 W/m °C at 24°C) and can be used over a broad temperature range from -297°F to 300°F (-183°C to 148°C).

In addition to superior thermal conductivity (low k-factor and high R-value), Trymer polyisocyanurate pipe insulation products feature:

  • Very good flame spread/smoke developed performance
  • Closed-cell and non-fibrous structure
  • Exceptional moisture resistance (to both liquid and vapor)
  • Strength and durability
  • Fabrication ease
  • Ease of installation and maintenance
  • Effective coverage of elbows and fittings
  • Long life span
  • Low initial and life-cycle cost
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Hydrocarbon blowing agents, which have no ozone-depletion potential

General Plastics

General Plastics offers a wide range of foam types, in multiple densities, available in a broad variety of physical forms. This allows matching foam properties to customer needs while keeping material and manufacturing costs under control.

  • LAST-A-FOAM® FR-6700 is a CFC-free, rigid, closed-cell, flame-retardant polyurethane foam available in densities ranging from 10 to 25 pounds per cubic foot.

For lower-density foams with comparable physical property characteristics, flammability, temperature resistance and chemical resistance performance, please see our LAST-A-FOAM® FR-3700.

  • LAST-A-FOAM® FR-6700 meets the requirements of several military specifications, and materials specifications of many aircraft and aerospace manufacturers. If your project or application requires certification, we can supply specification conformance information on request.

  • LAST-A-FOAM® FR-6700 has temperature resistance suitable for laminating processes in the 250-275°F temperature range.

It exhibits a high strength-to-weight ratio due to its cellular structure and cross-linked resin. Also, because of its closed-cell structure, LAST-A-FOAM® FR-6700 has great resistance to water absorption, and will not swell, crack, or split on exposure to water.

  • LAST-A-FOAM® FR-6700 is stable, inert, and is resistant to most chemicals and solvents. It is easily worked with common tools, and performs well as a primary structural material, or as a replacement for other materials in a variety of applications.
